ABOUT: Vickie L. Evans is a playwright, author, and the director of the Performing Arts And Literary Society (PALS) and the African American Playwrights Group.  Motto and mission: “Arts For The Soul.” “My purpose, personally and professionally is to sell relationships, self-empowerment, and personal and spiritual enlightenment that will enrich THE SOUL! I utilize interactive theater as therapy to counsel hurting people and to educate the “unlearned” on global issues that affect us ALL personally, corporately, and/or spiritually.”

Performing Arts and Literary Society (PALS) is a nonprofit arts advocacy organization that advocates for social reform by vocalizing a call-to-action utilizing interactive dramatizations and insightful literature.   PALS provides a platform for communities and prevention organizations to disseminate information to victims of domestic violence in a non threatening way.  Among the projects is the award-winning original work, A Change Is Gonna Come, which addressed domestic violence, and the stage play/musical The Gift, which advocated for benevolence for the homeless.  PALS has partnered with the YWCA, The Family Justice Center Of PG County, and several other grassroots organizations.

African American Playwrights Group is collaboration of African American Playwrights (aspiring and veterans)  whose mission is to produce excellent theater in Charlotte, NC, surrounding areas, and abroad; to share resources; and to unequivocally support one another!  “Our Motto is:  “We Are EVEN BETTER TOGETHER, Than We Are APART!”  We promote Collaboration NOT Competition!”
