ABOUT:

Piedmont Music Therapy (PMT) is a team of board certified music therapists offering services to children and adults of all abilities. From single-person sessions to group activities, PMT offers a wide range of programs to benefit community members' health through music. In-person, online, and hybrid programs are offered to accommodate people with different types of availability.

Music therapy is the clinical and evidence-based use of music interventions to accomplish individualized goals within a therapeutic relationship by a credentialed professional who has completed an approved music therapy degree program. Music therapists work with a variety of individuals, including autistic children and adults, individuals with Traumatic Brain Injury, individuals post stroke, and individuals in memory care.

PMT provides individual and group music therapy treatment services, as well as music instruction/education programs and professional development opportunities for music therapists and music therapy students.

Among programs PMT offers is the Veterans Workshop Series. Veterans are given the opportunity to explore music-based experiences through this 8-week program, which aims to address goal areas related to mental well-being, such as mood regulation, identifying purpose, improving sense of self, and developing coping skills. At the end of the series, Veterans receive a musical instrument to continue to explore their relationship with music as a meaningful tool in their life.
