ABOUT:
BraveWorks empowers women in the Charlotte area who have experienced trauma such as domestic abuse, human trafficking, and incarceration, as well as refugees and immigrants. These women are given resources to build a plan to grow their future, which they call their Artisan Empowerment Plan. This plan teaches practical skills and provides resources for housing, employment, and education. Artistry skills such as jewelry making, sewing, and decorating are taught, which allows the artisans to create products that they can sell.
BraveWorks has an online store and a physical location in Charlotte where these products that showcase the creativity and progress of the women are sold. Artistry, mental well-being, and professional growth are key focuses for the artisan team. Therapists and mental health partners work with the women at BraveWorks as they process trauma and rebuild their lives. BraveWorks also partners with artisan projects in eight other countries.
